The SOS Village: Final Review

During the past 3 months after the New Year we have had regular sessions of swimming and general educating.

We have developed new games to play in the pool such as 'ball war' and 'roller-coaster' when the children and us, we have stroke each other with the pool ball and we also drag the children that are holding on pool noodles in the water which amused them a lot.

During 15 minutes of general education, I have been giving children that I work with, two boys Pasindu and Sasanka, vocabulary sheets, word games and cross words to develop their reading and writing skills and enlarge their vocabulary.

The, to an extent, extraordinary session that we have had during these months, was the stormy day when we could not swim. So we combined our service with the other service group called Gecko Inc. which also works with local children and set the movie site. We have chosen to watch 'Mr. Bean on vacations'. Everyone loved it a lot. :)

It is sad to say, but as the CAS program is over for us and May examinations are coming, I won't be able to attend sessions as often. I am planning to attend the final session after the exams. I am sure we will organize something special for them.

DP Orientation Trip What? How? What for? Our grade is sliding down waterfall; Photo Credit: Unknown When I first time heard about DP Orientation Trip I was surprised... no... I was shocked! Jumping from the cliff, abseiling, rufting...All these words were just words for me before I was told that we are going to do it. My mom was shocked as well. I am not sure whether it was fear or excitement. But after I have jumped from the cliff I surprisingly fell...freedom. I imply to think that DP Orientation trip was organized mainly to rally us. OSC’s Got Talent! In the middle of February during the evening before Saint Valentine’s Day, I have been participating in the school’s talent show annually organized by Student Government Association in order to bring the entire school together once again, have a memorable and fun time and, of course, raise funds for school’s prompt evening. Despite organization and preparation of the event did not seem efficient in the beginning, on the night everything was well-organized and quite professional.
