Little Red Riding Hood

             "Once she gave her a little riding hood of red velvet,
which suited her so well that she would never wear anything else;
so she was always called 'Little Red Riding Hood."

On the 19th of March, our service session was special. Before going to the swimming pool and computer lab as we, our service team and children from SOS Village, usually do, we had watched the performance done by other service group 'Random Acts of Kindness'. That time we became an object of kindness. The participants of that service, Tulika, Elizabeth, Joaquin and Greta, prepared a modernized drama sketch of a famous fairytale Little Red Ridding Hood (aka Red Cap) by Brothers Grimm. The sketch was funny. However, not all the children understood the happenings as they don't speak English that good. I saw wonder and smiles on their faces. Boys really liked the water gun which was the part of the scene.
As it turned out, this scene was not the only surprise. The most important part was next. 'Random Acts of Kindness' collected the books for children from SOS. The whole school contributed to the collection of the books. Totally, 3 boxes full of different books were gathered. I wondered and at the same time was fascinated how children were shy about looking at the books. I think they did not even realize at first that these were for them.
After that, books were brought to the bus and we continued our session according to our casual plan. In my opinion, it is good to organize sessions like these as these broaden the minds of children, make them feel warmth and play a major role in collaboration between different service groups.
