MY FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP

At the end of the previous month, school was temporarily empty because of SAISA Volleyball.
Two teams 10 girls and 10 boys were practicing hard for 3 months before this event. Finally, bags were packed tickets and visas were ready we were inspired and full of hope. Girls' volleyball team departure on 28th of October at 23:45 straight to Mumbai.
Tournament started on the 30th of October. On the first day of tournament we had an opening ceremony and presentation of teams involved. That was really exciting and impressing.
That was my first SAISA and my first official championship. Eight teams from different countries took part in this tournament. Many of them looked so professional and experienced so it was scaring in the beginning but then I used to it. One interesting thing is that I was much less nervous during SAISA than during the tournament with local schools in Sri Lanka. I think tournament with local teams was a very useful experience before going on SAISA.
In India during the tournament I must have been extremely attentive and collected all the time. Because every minute (no amplification) something was happening: ceremony, game, warming up, warming down, again game, meeting. Therefore you must be aware of all this events and be everywhere strictly on time.
Tournaments like SAISA undoubtedly bring people, especially those who are on the same team, together. During that trip I opened many new sides of girls in our team. We became more unite and collaborative.
There were some failures and then awesome comebacks. Especially, last day games were tense and breathtaking. In semifinal game we were losing in the third set 8:13. However, we have done this, we came back and won that game with the score 16:14!
Besides group new skills and achievements there was also personal development, overcoming of challenge and development of confidence and determination.
Finally, I am proud to say that the winner of SAISA Girls' volleyball in 2014 was OSC. :3
