SAISA: GECKO ATHLETICS VOLLEYBALL 2015
This is my second year in SAISA (South Asian International Schools Association) Volleyball. Last year our team was undefeated and, hence, came first on the tournament. This way, it was a great responsibility and a prior goal for our team to work hard and improve our shared team skills (collaboration) as well as personal professional skills during this season. Even though, I cannot travel during this academic year due to some personal reasons, I was committed and dedicated (as I love this sport a lot) and attended all the practices. The most challenging and important thing I was working on during the sessions was to be more initiative in the game and be a leader sometimes. You must be able to run the situation (when it is needed) in the team sport like volleyball. Last year it was extremely hard for me to be more initiative and even bold during the games as I was new in the school and I never played in an actual team before. Thus, I didn’t get to show off my potential to the full.
I tried hard and practiced to maximum overcoming my personal challenges. However, still I was frustrated as I couldn’t travel to American International School in Dhaka where the event was planned to be held initially. By the magic coincidence, last week it was confirmed that the SAISA Volleyball 2015 (for both girls and boys) will be held at our school. Everyone in the school, especially athletes were overwhelmed by these news. What about me? I was overwhelmed thousand times more than anyone else. I was in seventh heaven!
In conclusion, I am glad to say that SAISA Volleyball 2015 will be held at Overseas School of Colombo, and I will take part in this event.

OSC’s Got Talent! In the middle of February during the evening before Saint Valentine’s Day, I have been participating in the school’s talent show annually organized by Student Government Association in order to bring the entire school together once again, have a memorable and fun time and, of course, raise funds for school’s prompt evening. Despite organization and preparation of the event did not seem efficient in the beginning, on the night everything was well-organized and quite professional. We have gotten the judges who were teachers with different qualifications and backgrounds which brought some diversity and multiple perspectives making the final decision more reliable. BASKETBALL SEASON 2015-2016: Overview For the ASA Block 2 I sighed up for Gecko Athletics basketball sessions. First, I wanted to further develop my basketball skills from the last year. Second, I wanted to prove myself that I can make the team this year.  As these sessions were targeted at  selection of a traveling team that will participate on the international tournament Basketball  SAISA 2016 at Lincoln School in Nepal, they were frequent and intense. We have been practicing 4 times a week and sessions were from 1.5 to 2.5 hours long.
